[livejournal.com profile] j4cbo needed a way to avoid "boom!" if he wired up this transformer incorrectly, and he also needed a way to power it on and be able to depower it in a hurry if things went wrong. The toaster killed two birds with one stone; it limited the current, and not only that, but it has a handy on/off switch (one that releases bread when you turn it off!).

As an added bonus, it has a control for how light or dark you would like your circuit.

A friend of mine used to work at a high-end hi fi company, where an eccentric power amplifier engineer also worked. It was said if you ever heard him go "oh shit" and hide under his desk, you should all do similar. It'd just dropped a screwdriver into a 1kW-per-channel 6 channel amplifier or something.
